I’m just back from South Africa, where I gave a presentation and workshop on (what else?) embedded librarianship at the Southern African Online Information Meeting (SAOIM). The SAOIM folks have posted the presentation, and you can find it here, along with other conference papers.
The paper was well received, and comments indicated that many South African university and specialized libraries are at various stages of implementing embedded librarianship.
I hope to return someday and learn more about the innovations taking place in South African libraries!

Great, Dave! Welcome back. I know it’s not quite as impressive, but I was asked (with one other librarian) to present on embedded librarianship within the Transportation Division for our monthly roundtable exchange. The other person is at the Arizona DOT so there should be an interesting comparison between our jobs.

Good to hear from you Eileen! I hope you and your counterpart will post something from your roundtable exchange.
I think sharing the stories is a great way to build momentum in the profession for this. (p.s. I made the same pitch at the SAOIM conference so I am looking for those South African stories to start pouring in any day now!)
